New York Lotto

What is New York Lotto?

As the name suggests the New York Lotto is the state-operated lottery in the US state of New York. Its origins can be traced back to 1966 when New Yorkers voted to approve a constitutional amendment. authorising a government-run lottery.
The proceeds of the Lottery were to be "applied exclusively to, or in aid or support of education " and this is still the case today.
The Lottery began in 1967 with the slogan "Your chance of a Lifetime to Help Education". Catchy hey?

Today it has the motto "Hey, you never know".

Since its introduction, it has contributed over $34 Billion in education revenue.

On February 1, 2013, the Lottery's operations were merged with that of the New York State Racing and Wagering Board to form the New York State Gaming Commission.

The New York Lotto currently has its headquarters in Schenectady, New York.

New York Lotto is a simple and fun draw game that could see you win millions of dollars! Prizes are awarded for matching as few as three of the six winning numbers drawn and the overall chance of claiming any prize stands at 1 in 46.02. There are five prize tiers in total. The details of which can be found below in One Pound Lotto's prize structure.

Both the top prize and the second-tier prize for New York Lotto rollover and increase in value each time they are not won. The jackpot grows by fixed increments of US$300,000 while the value of the second-tier offering tends to vary.

One New York Lotto winner used his whopping winnings to fund his lifetime ambitions of becoming a star on Broadway. The young Puerto Rican immigrant, John Falcon, was living in a tenement 'just trying to get by'. Since winning the record $45 million jackpot in 2005, he has moved to Trump Towers and even screened a film about his life at a film festival!

In July 2007, Degli Martinez of Queens in New York City was awarded a record US$65 million jackpot a year after the date of the draw in which he won. Martinez possessed the jackpot receipt but had lost the winning ticket, meaning that the payout was not as straightforward as usual. The case was investigated by the police and when the one-year deadline for collecting the winnings passed without anyone else coming forward, he was awarded his prize.

The first draw was held in April 1967

What do I do if I win?

If your account has been verified simply proceed to your account and withdraw your winnings. If your account has not been verified you will first need to provide proof of your ID and proof of address. Each winner must be able to prove that they are above the legal age to play in the jurisdiction of their residence Once this has been confirmed you will be able to withdraw your winnings.
How are the prizes paid?
To avoid corruption, all smaller winnings will be returned to the player account whereas anything over a £4K will be retained until we at OPL have made contact with the winning entrant. Winnings will not be paid otherwise.

All winnings across all games will have to be claimed within 60 days.
All winnings in each tier are split between official New York Lotto Players and One Pound Lotto Players
We do not believe in the practice of "annuity" (the payment of large prizes over a fixed period of roughly 30years) as many other sites do. All of our prizes will be paid in full! to the winners nominated account, within 60 days of the winners being verified as a genuine winner by One Pound Lottery Ltd. However some of the official lotteries do practice annuity on their advertised jackpots.  Hence we advertise our jackpots based on theirs. Currently, the only lotteries that we advertise that do this are the US Lotteries.  To find out more about how they work this out please read below.
However, if the jackpot winner wishes to take a cash lump sum they can do this. Their decision has to be made within 60 days of the draw and can not be changed! This amount will be lower than the annuity jackpot advertised by OPL Ltd and is determined by the lottery operator at the time of the draw.

New York Lotto annuity

If you live outside the UK or US we would advise you to refer to your relevant countries tax authority and in the event of a win possibly a lawyer. As there is every possibility you could claim back the Federal Withholding from the IRS.
